At its core, your wedding is a celebration of you and your spouse’s love. Chances are, you want to craft a day that you can reflect on not only as a positive memory, but also as a true representation of your unique bond and commitment to one another. However, with all the moving parts that go into weddings, it can be difficult to know where to begin. Not to worry—I’m here to walk you through it.
For your guests
If you have ever been a guest at a wedding, you know how important the guest experience is. It begins the moment they walk into the venue for the ceremony, and is part of what shapes their impression of not only the day, but of the marriage itself. As such, happy guests help a celebration go as planned and remain as joyful as expected, even after it ends.
However, I am not here to discuss the minute aspects of the guest experience, such as food or music. If you have ever been a guest at a wedding, you know that the most memorable aspect is getting to share in the spouses’ love for one another.
Which is to say, every aspect of your nuptials—from the flower arrangements to the vows— should radiate your deep love for one another. The ceremony is not only the beginning of the wedding, but of the marriage itself. It is a demonstration of the commitment you are making to one another, and all things that come with it.
The easiest way to keep your guests happy and allow them to enjoy your wedding is to make sure it feels authentic to you, and truly demonstrates your love for your guests. From here, everything else will fall into place.
For Yourselves
Focus on what matters most to you
There is no denying that your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life. It is the first time you and your spouse present yourselves to the world as a new unit. Therefore, it is perfectly reasonable to consider all of the little things that will go into it. In fact, having an eye for the details is greatly beneficial.
However, the details can be demanding. Many choices are difficult to make, and the more you hone in on the particulars, the more you might begin to feel like your wedding is an intricate tapestry with countless threads that you cannot manage. This thought can overwhelm us, cause us to overthink, or distract us from what matters.
To avoid this, start by only inviting into your mind the details that are most important to you in honoring your love. Focus on your why, and on the commitment you will be making to your spouse at the end of the aisle. This is the foundation for your wedding, and you will build from here. When all of the little things become overwhelming, you can always come back to it. This will ensure that no matter what details have a place at your wedding, happiness will always be front-and-center.

When the day comes, let go.
By the time you open your eyes on the morning of your wedding, you have likely done everything you can possibly do. There is nothing more to plan, and it is all in the hands of the professionals. All that is left is for you to enjoy the day of your wedding.
Allow yourself to be fully present in this beautiful moment. As you read your vows and make this commitment to your spouse, fully bask in the reality of it. Join your guests in celebrating your love, and be sure to share your happiness with them. Very often, our memories are based on how we are feeling in that moment more than anything else. When the day comes,
Lean on someone who can handle it
One of the many wonderful things weddings remind us of is that we are not alone. Leading up to and on the day of your wedding, assistance is always available. Aside from your friends, family, and your future spouse, wedding professionals like myself can help you every step of the way.
